About Leanne Fitzmaurice

After working in Long Term Care for over 20 years, Leanne developed a new passion when she became a Certified Facilitator of The Working Mind through the Opening Minds Program with the Mental Health Commission of Canada.  Leanne has always believed a good leader looks after their team and the people they support.  The Working Mind not only aligns with her beliefs but it takes her leadership style to another level in helping others.  In her experience facilitating this program, Leanne has witnessed how taking care of ourselves and supporting each other in the workplace makes a real difference in any organization.  As well, she has seen the impact of how The Working Mind helps employees and managers to understand how stigma exists at work, and to learn tangible ways in which we can overcome the stigma to create healthier workplaces across all sectors.

The Working Mind: Long Term Care

As a leader working in Long Term Care, have you ever felt concerned about the negative impact of stress and pressure on you or your team? It's hard to know how to start a conversation about mental health in the workplace, but this is something we should learn if we want to create a healthy workplace culture. The Working Mind program can help you and your team build resilience and thrive in the face of the many challenges that come with working in LTC.

Leanne is passionate about supporting those who work in Long Term Care and finding ways to take care of our workforce. With her experience, Leanne understands the unique challenges that come with working in LTC. She has seen the impact of moral distress and burn out from working in an emotionally taxing work environment first hand.

As a Certified Facilitator of The Working Mind, Leanne combines the sector specific course content (developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada in partnership with CALTC) along with her own working experience to deliver The Working Mind with compassion and empathy, helping individuals, teams and organizations improve and maintain good mental health and a supportive, resilient workplace.
